The Bowen Ranch Road, which connects to the location through private property, provides the simplest access route for a small fee. After 2.5 kilometers, the path steeply drops to the springs. An alternative for hikers is to go there or back via the 6-mile hike along the Pacific Crest Trail from Arrowhead Lake Drive.
Fenner Saddle to Jackson Lake
You can spend an hour or two near Wrightwood on this small but beautiful off-road trail. Located on Fenner Saddle Road, this trail leads from Highway 2 to Big Pines Highway N4 in the Angeles National Forest. It ends at Jackson Lake, a popular day-use location where you can have a picnic under a canopy of pine trees, go fishing, and more.
The road provides breathtaking views of the Mojave Desert and the mountains toward the north. Despite being winding and busy, the dirt road has a few broad spaces where you can turn around or overtake other cars. Certain portions are rough, and there may be some land corrosion. Sugarpine Mountain Off-Highway Vehicle Trail
Sugarpine Mountain includes a summit that's 1,659 meters high, available on a 13-mile route that winds through the mountains between San Bernardino and Hesperia. Holcomb Creek Trail
South Central California's Holcomb Creek Trail gives you amazing views of Big Bear. It's more suitable for capable vehicles, and it passes by hundreds of trees in an untamed forest. You'll face an interesting mix of obstacles along the way, such as steep hill climbs, high ledges, water crossings, rock gardens, large roots, and more.

Running the trail from east to west is even more difficult. The trail is typically accessible year-round, but in winter it depends on the snowfall.
Cold Water Canyon
The Lytle Creek system includes 12 trails, one of which is Cold Water Canyon in the San Bernardino National Forest. The north branch of Lytle Creek's main route, at 3N06 Stockton Flats, connects to this short but fun spur trail. A total of 19 Yellow Post camping spots, three of which are directly on the trail, are a significant draw to the area.
Although it's challenging enough for everyone to appreciate, Cold Water Canyon is excellent for beginner four-wheelers with quality equipment. You're likely to find a lot of forest creatures in any season, so be prepared.
Dishpan Springs
One of San Bernardino National Forest's most difficult paths is Dishpan Springs Trail, also known as Forest Road 3N34, and it features some of the most beautiful nature in southeastern California. The national forest contains some very steep and rocky terrain, making it a short ride you might have to carefully crawl through at times. Due to the substantial boulders, rock gardens, sandy terrain, and extra-steep climbs, you'll want a well-prepared vehicle and potentially some backup.
At the end of the route is the intersection with Holcomb Valley Road, which allows access to more riding opportunities. You could check out Holcomb Creek, which is immediately north.
