In the summer, many customers enjoy the garden skillet for breakfast. California Route 66 Museum

Route 66 was a major thoroughfare when motorized vehicle transportation was still a fairly new concept. The road eventually began to deteriorate, and people used other ways to get across the country. Today, many people enjoy taking the scenic and historical Route 66 to see quaint towns and small museums, such as the California Route 66 Museum right here in Victorville. This museum is full of local history and information about the historic route that saw so much traffic from the '30s to the '50s. You'll find lots of great photo opportunities in this interactive museum.

Get your picture behind the wheel of an old Volkswagen bus complete with a flower paint job. See what it was like to gas up an old Ford Model T. And take your time as you look around at all the artifacts that help bring history to life.

Mojave Narrows Regional Park

Location: 18000 Yates Road, Victorville

Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Monday

At Mojave Narrows Regional Park, you'll find all sorts of fun summer activities you can participate in. Go early before it gets hot to get some incredible shots of local wildlife. Bring your fishing pole and try your luck at either Pelican or Horseshoe Lake. Because they stock one of the lakes every Thursday, you're sure to catch something. Disc golf is always fun, and the 18-hole course at Mojave Narrows is ideal for all skill levels. 

Bring your tent or RV and camp at one of the camping sites at this beautiful regional park. There are 38 sites for RVs with full hookups and 31 tent camping sites right along the shoreline of both Pelican and Horseshoe Lakes. Staying overnight gives you more time to hike one of the many trails in the park. No matter your skill level, there's a hiking trail at Mojave Narrows to suit.

Mojave River Forks Regional Park

Location: 17891 California 173, Hesperia

Hours: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Monday

The Mojave River Forks Regional Park is another excellent place to spend summer days in Victorville. Go biking for the day and get away from it all. Or, for a relaxing weekend or vacation close to home, plan a camping trip that lets you enjoy the peace and serenity of the park overnight. There are 25 full hookup sites for RVs and 25 sites designated for tents. Hot showers are available if you need one after a day of exploring the park's terrain.
